1. Who we are

Fintastic ("we", "us", "our") is an aquarium monitoring service operated by Fintastic, based in Leicester, England. You can contact us at hello@fintastic.help.

2. What data we collect

When you use Fintastic we collect:

• Account data — your name, email address and username when you register.
• Tank data — water parameter readings, livestock records and events that you enter into the app.
• Usage data — basic server logs including IP address, browser type and pages visited, retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.
• Session data — a session cookie to keep you logged in. This is strictly necessary and does not track you across other websites.

We do not collect payment card data. When Stripe payments are introduced, card details will be handled entirely by Stripe and never pass through our servers.

3. Why we collect it (legal basis)

• To provide the service (performance of contract) — your account data and tank data are necessary to operate Fintastic.
• To contact you about your account (legitimate interest) — we send transactional emails such as email verification, password resets and trial expiry notices.
• To comply with legal obligations — we may retain certain data as required by applicable law.

4. How we use your data

We use your data only to:

• Provide and improve the Fintastic service
• Send you transactional emails about your account
• Prevent fraud and ensure the security of the service

We will never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose unrelated to the service.

5. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate Fintastic:

• Fly.io — our hosting provider. Your data is stored on servers in London, England. Fly.io Privacy Policy →
• Resend — used to deliver transactional emails. Email addresses are shared only as necessary to send the email. Resend Privacy Policy →
• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. This may result in your IP address being sent to Google. Google Privacy Policy →

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

6. Data retention

• Active accounts — your data is retained for as long as you hold an active subscription.
• Trial accounts — after your trial ends, your data is kept for 14 days to allow you to subscribe. After 14 days without a subscription, your account and all associated data are permanently deleted.
• Deleted accounts — when an account is deleted (by you or automatically after the retention period), all personal data and tank data is permanently removed from our systems.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data
• Portability — export your tank data at any time using the CSV export feature in the app
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests

8. Cookies

Fintastic uses one session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to function and does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

9. Children

Fintastic is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email if we make material changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
